The lack of variety in conversations there drove me crazy during my 20+ years living in SV. The same conversations in every coffee shop, restaurant, and party.

Always talking shop. Ugh.

We moved away a couple years ago (ironically to be closer to Tahoe). The conversations here are wildly diverse, because everyone has a completely different kind of job and life (hardly anyone in Tech). I really enjoy it. We actually talk about life, not work.
