I think you’re right that most people try to avoid the inevitable pain in a new project, or pretend that it won’t happen.

I’ve learned that almost everything takes 3x the time and cost 3x more than you originally estimated.

Factor in 3x the discomfort/pain too. But, at least that pain does end up fueling a valuable learning experience.
