People get old because they believe they are old. I know 30-somethings who act older than 60-somethings.

I’ve witnessed this. I’ve experienced this myself.

I started doing CrossFit at 44. I started doing powerlifting a few years later. I started trail running, sometimes 10+ miles a week. Just did a 7-mile trail run last weekend.

Now I’m over 50 and I’m getting coached on Olympic lifting and powerlifting 4+days/week.

Yeah, I’m crazy but I’m in the best shape of my life. I’m in better shape than I was in my 20s. I call BS every time someone tells me that they are too old to start working out and that it’s too late. It’s never too late.

I quit my last corporate job at 44 to start my own company. Founded my first Tech startup at 48. Founded yet another business in my 50s.

Again, it’s never too late. Age is an excuse. People say that they can’t take risks at that age because they have huge responsibilities. Yeah, I did too. A big mortgage and supporting a family of 5.

You can be afraid to take a risk. I get it. You can be worried that it’s really hard to start exercising when you’re older. Yes, that’s true.

But, what’s the alternative? Use your age as an excuse to be unhealthy and/or unhappy? Don’t fall into that trap.

It’s never too late to make the changes that will make you healthier and happier for the rest of your life.
