I’ve always preferred building a real company that sells to real customers to bootstrap itself. But, as you say, things have certainly changed in the last 5 years or so. Founders are now coached to pursue growth and to delay revenue features until later. When you try to bake in revenue features from the start, you are “accused” of wanting to build a “lifestyle business”.
