Agreed, but it does happen. All too often.
People follow a career path out of pressure and wanting to meet the expectations of their parents, teachers, peers, and even mentors.
I picked up my ladder and moved it to a different wall in my 40s. It’s never too late, and the alternative is unacceptable.
